A tradition unlike any other, the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is considered to be the most prestigious golf event in America. The Masters is played every year during the first week of April down in Augusta, Georgia and is the first of the four Major Golf tournaments of the PGA season. This Major Golf Championship is the only Major that is played at the same location every year and is arguably the biggest event on a very impressive PGA Tour schedule. Professional golfers compete in the Masters Tournament by invitation only over several days each April. This is a golf tournament steeped in tradition and features some of the most iconic facets in the PGA world: the opening drive ceremonies, the legendary “Amen Corner,” which refers to holes 11 through 13, and of course, the green jacket awarded to the Masters Champions.
Jack Nicklaus has won the most Masters Tournaments with 6, while Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer each have 4 victories. What makes the Masters so incredible is that it is the only one of the four major events that is played at the same location every year. Augusta National Golf Course is one of the most beautiful venues in all of America and continues to show its brilliance each year during this tournament. The course first opened in 1933 and the first Masters Tournament was played a year later in 1934. Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods are tied for the scoring record with an 18 under par score in 2015 and 1997, respectively.
