The New York Islanders, one of the NHL's 30 teams, are based in Long Island, NY and play at the Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders were formed in 1972. Since then, they have had a tail of two different eras. In the early years, NY won 4 straight Stanley Cups and were the dominant team of the late 70's and early 80's. However, since then this team has been in a rut having not won a division title since 1988. All together, this franchise has won 6 division titles and 6 conference titles. Mike Bossy holds many of the team’s offensive records including most points (147) in 1982, and most goals (69) in 1979.
